Evidence gathering & collaboration

We want to work with as many organisations working to protect the rights of EU nationals as we can. Even where we cannot help on a given case – e.g. because it is a past case, or we do not have capacity – we are keen to gather as much evidence as we can to build up a detailed picture of the challenges EU nationals are facing in the UK and work together to make joint submissions to parliamentary bodies and EU institutions.

Alternatively you can get in touch with us if you have some insight into those challenges by emailing law-eurightshub@york.ac.uk (please include the evidence consent form in your email).

A past example of using evidence:

Drawing upon the findings in the EU Rights Project we've been able to contribute to the debates and analysis of Brexit documents and processes.

  • giving evidence on the EU Withdrawal Bill at an oral session of the house of Commons Exiting the European Union Committee. The video of the session is available here.

  • This evidence was cited on the floor of the House of Commons, by Stephen Timms MP (column 521).

  • And at length by Joanna Cherry MP, Seema Malhotra MP and Stephen Timms MP during the European Union (Withdrawal Bill) debate, on 21 November 2017, (columns 911-921).

  • Stephen Timms MP has further referred to this evidence in an oral submission before the Committee for Exiting the European Union (para Q203):

  • The project’s written evidence was drawn upon heavily in the final report of the House of Commons Exiting the European Union Committee on the European Union (Withdrawal Bill).
